What’s this ‘Ferally Good’ all about then?

Set on the 30th of August to the 1st of September, Ferally Good is a non-profit, community-inspired, rural camping weekend of music, food, games and craft, that breaks away from the modern business structured festival attitude and instead implements themes that embody the values of working together as a collective to make good music, good food and good memories. With an emphasis on working well with nature and an aim to reclaim gatherings of yesteryear with a richness of interactions, connections and traditions.

The event promotes those currently involved and those wishing to take part in a mindset of enriching the festival by bringing and inputting whatever skills, ideas or time possible into helping make the event into a dynamic, fun and memorable weekend. (Volunteering some time into the running of the kitchen, tending to the fire, and keeping the place tidy etc etc This will be necessary in keeping it enjoyable for everyone).

Music on our Main Stage

The Weekend will have three days of live music on our main stage, with a range of Folk, Country, Blues and Americana. This will be paired with our Trad style bar selling a broad variety of reasonably priced local Ciders, Ales and Beers. Money made from the bar will greatly support the festival and local brewers. (Cash only please)

Amphitheatre stage

We are looking to create a ‘run by the people’ style theatre stage where people will be welcomed to write their names on a blackboard or jump on up to showcase their talents; music, theatre, storytelling, poetry, performance and any kind of creative input you’d love to share. This will be accompanied by Karmaceuticals cocktail bar.

The collective Ferally Feast

On Friday Afternoon and into the evening – what we see to be the very heart of the gatherings concept – Chippy and team will be preparing and hosting a sumptuous big table feast (included in the ticket price), where everyone will be invited to sit at one long table, meeting with old faces and new, accompanied by games and music. The dinner will use vegetables grown just a stone’s throw from the table, locally sourced ingredients and bring together themes of harvest time, community gatherings and general folkyness. (Be a legend and bring your own plate and cup)

The feast will be followed by a Ceilidh (with Nick Hart and Tom Moore).

The home kitchen will be running all weekend serving delicious food, coffees and other delights. (again cash only please)

Where will it be?

We have a beautiful piece of land organised for the event in Meare near Glasto. The crops-not-shops thriving community land implements ecological systems and principles that work with nature, i.e. natural showers and compost loos, so we ask those attending to bring only natural products please and take responsibility for any rubbish and recycling created over the weekend.

We also want to highlight that the use of synthetic drugs is no-no for crops-not-shops’ community land and for everyone attending to be conscientious and respectful of this.

Ideas and Input?

We have some yet-to-be-confirmed ideas of group games, Sauna, Sunday Effigy burn, best in show drag veg competition (best dressed up sexy vegetable creation) and much more. We would love to encourage any of youses creative input, so if you feel you have an idea that would need curating or talking about first or something you would like to bring i.e music, stalls, workshops, games etc.

Rounding up

Waffles aside we look forward to welcoming you all to a gathering of friends and a family-style camping weekend that we have wanted to create for many years. We would love to see it grow into an annual enriching congregation for all ages to come and exchange knowledge of music, food, stories, nature and above all have some fun. So it’s up to you to invite like-minded friends, get involved yourselves and together we can make a bit of memorable magic happen.

Tickets

If you’re down on funds at the moment and not able to afford, or just want to get involved in helping we will have some shifts that we can trade out for ticket costs, message us!

We would love you to come for the full weekend to help bring together the community vibes for all.

…….Just to say in the nicest possible way…don’t be a dick and not buy a ticket for the days you are there 😉 help out the cause by buying a ticket… it’s a non-profit and if we do get into profit we will be feeding the money back into this year’s Ferally Good or the next one……
